Biography

Pia Torelli is an award-winning professional photojournalist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She works on assignments for magazines and syndicates her work through the New-York based photo news agency, World Picture Network.

Her assignments range from breaking news stories to feature stories. She travels extensively within the United States and throughout the world. .

Born of an Italian father and a Belgian mother, she grew up in Belgium until she decided to travel extensively after high school. Her journeys took her to Turkey through Greece, and then to Iran and Afghanistan. She then decided to move to the United States where she obtained a degree in photography at the San Francisco Academy of Art University.

Upon graduation, she started receiving assignments from a wide range of magazines and newspapers that started her career as an international photojournalist.
